My New Favourite Toilet Paper – Bamboo!

Home » My New Favourite Toilet Paper – Bamboo!

I’m not going to lie. I’m obsessed with toilet paper bamboo. It’s soft, it’s sustainable, and it smells great. But there are so many other reasons you should be obsessed with it too! Here’s why I think everyone should swap out their regular toilet paper for the green stuff:

Are the rolls worth the splurge?

The big question you’re probably wondering is, is the extra cost worth it? And yes, I believe it is. When you think about what kind of savings you will get from having a reusable toilet paper roll that lasts for up to 12 months instead of buying a pack of 50 rolls every few months, the long-term benefits speak for themselves.

In fact, according to one estimate, I found online (and yes…I know this sounds like something out of an infomercial), if you were to buy two packages of toilet paper each month (for those times when your bamboo roll runs out and needs a quick replacement). Using this toilet paper bamboo instead would save you $40 per year!

That’s nothing compared to other estimates I’ve seen online claiming savings of up to $400 per year! So whether or not this particular brand or style works best for your home depends on how often it gets used and how much money and time can be saved by switching traditional methods to something more environmentally friendly.

5 Reasons Why I’m Obsessed With Bamboo Toilet Paper

It’s good for your skin.

Bamboo is a naturally hypoallergenic material known for its softness, resulting in a comfortable experience. It’s also antibacterial, so you can rest easy knowing that your toilet paper won’t make you sick!

In addition to being hypoallergenic and antibacterial, bamboo is also anti-bacterial. This means it destroys the germs on your hands and protects them from harmful bacteria—so go ahead and wipe your nose with confidence!

It’s better for the environment.

The bamboo you find in your bathroom is a fast-growing plant. It takes about 4 years for new bamboo to reach maturity, and then it can grow up to 60 inches a day! In fact, after the harvest of the plant, it will take only 2 months for new growth to return. This means that bamboo is a sustainable alternative to trees (usually hardwood) or cotton which requires lots of water and pesticides.

Bamboo is also biodegradable and can be composted like any other organic material. Unlike cotton products that sit around forever going nowhere—bamboo toilet paper breaks down quickly and leaves no trace behind other than its natural goodness!

You’re not going to need as much of it.

It’s more absorbent than regular toilet paper, and you will use less of it. You can fit more in the same space, which means if you have a small bathroom or are trying to save money on your water bill, bamboo is a prime choice for you!

It fits my budget.

Bamboo toilet paper is also, in general, cheaper than other brands. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly option to save you money in the long run, this is it. You can buy it in bulk to maximize savings even more and keep your wallet happy.

I don’t have to feel guilty about it.

What’s not to love? This disposable paper product is:

  • organic
  • better for the environment
  • more sustainable than toilet paper made with non-renewable resources like trees, and
  • biodegradable. With bamboo, you don’t have to feel guilty about using it because it will decompose naturally in your compost bin or trash can. It won’t add to landfill waste!

BPA -free

While you’re shopping for a new toilet paper option, it is important to look for BPA.

BPA (or bisphenol A) is an industrial chemical used in some plastics, including food packaging. It has been linked to cancer, reproductive problems and other health issues. BPA-free products are now available in most grocery stores and many health food stores.

While bamboo toilet paper isn’t 100% guaranteed to be free of all things toxic (like any other product), the fact that it’s made from hemp means that it is unlikely to have any traces of BPA or other potentially harmful chemicals.

Made in China

Silk’n Soft Bamboo Toilet Paper is made in China by a company called Conveniently. They’re based in Shenzhen, which is in Guangdong province. The factory where this product is made is located in Jinhua city, Zhejiang province.

The company has been in business since 2005 and they are a member of the China Chamber of Commerce. The bamboo toilet paper is made from organically grown hemp and it’s also free of chemicals, dyes, bleaches, perfumes or any other additives that might cause irritation or allergies.

Made with Bamboo

Bamboo is a grass that’s native to China and is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth. It’s been used for centuries in Asia for everything from food and shelter to clothing, paper and more. Bamboo has many environmental benefits, including:

  • It grows quickly—it takes just four years to reach maturity and it can grow over 6 feet (1.8 meters) per day
  • Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide during photosynthesis
  • It doesn’t need pesticides or fertilizers as trees do
  • Its root system helps prevent erosion

Septic-safe

The bamboo fibre that makes up this toilet paper is both sustainable and biodegradable. This means it can be disposed of safely in septic systems, rather than added to landfills. It’s also compostable, so if you have access to a backyard compost pile or worm composter, your used sheets will break down naturally without any problems.

If you don’t have an option for disposing of anything but the trash bin, that’s okay too! You can throw away the sheet after using it as normal—just make sure you’re doing so with something like a plastic baggie over your hand so that none of the fibres escapes into the environment (and keep them clean).

Soft but strong

The Silk’n Soft Bamboo Toilet Paper is soft and strong, which we think is key to good toilet paper. It’s strong enough to clean your butt without tearing or ripping, but also soft enough that it doesn’t leave behind any unwanted paper particles on your posterior.

It leaves you feeling refreshed—and not in the “I just cleaned my ass with a bunch of dry leaves” kind of way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are they gluten and allergen free?

These toilet papers are completely free of allergens and gluten. They are made with bamboo, which is a great alternative to paper products because it is sustainable and eco-friendly.

Can I microwave bamboo toilet paper?

Bamboo is a natural material. It can be microwaved and will not be damaged.

Microwave for 30 seconds to soften the paper and make it more comfortable to use when wiping. If you want to make sure that it’s completely dry, you can microwave it for an additional minute or two.

Will they break down on my shelf?

The answer is, it depends. If you live in a hot and humid area, your toilet paper will break down much faster than someone who lives in a dry area. The shelf life of the product could be anywhere from six months to two years depending on how warm and humid your home is. To speed up this process, we recommend freezing them for two weeks before use (they will thaw naturally).

Conclusion

I’m not going to lie, I was pretty sceptical of the whole toilet paper bamboo thing. But now that I’ve tried it, I’m a believer! The softness and texture are unlike any other TP on the market today. And while it may seem like an extravagance at first glance (with prices starting at around $7 per roll), this is a bargain compared to what you’ll pay at other stores for standard brands.
